Photo link upgrade

April 8th, 2007 by Chris

I’ve written a little enhancement for the blog so that you won’t have to click through to Flickr quite so often.  We like to link words to photos in our posts, but clicking on each of those links gets annoying really fast, since Flickr takes awhile to load, etc.  Now whenever there is a link to a single photo, mousing over that link will pop up a little preview of the picture.

You can see it in action with these links to trees, gates, monkeys, friends, family, and fish.

I’ve verified this works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari.  It should work in Opera too but I haven’t tried.

Enjoy!

The mouseover popup images work in Opera 9 as well.

    Regards to you both, Nicky

    Hi,

i really like your plugin! It’s just great.

Unfortunately I had to change to Picasa. Is there any way to get some “picasatips”? I’m not into php neither into Google’s API. I’m sure, they’re lots of people using Picasa which would appreciate it if you’re programming a 2nd version of your plugin.
Just a proposal, nice pisc btw.

    bye, Philipp.

    Nice WP plugin.

Since I’m not a flickr pro-user, I post all my pictures to a group I made. This way the 200 last pictures limit is not important. But the links in my WP-blog are to photopages or tags in the group pool instead of photopages or tags of my account. Can I ask for a feature in you plugin to include these grouplinks as well?

    thx

    Hi Rolograaf,

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve added Group URL support in 1.6.
